Celebrate Spring!

Today we celebrate Spring! We'll fly kites, dye and then hunt for pastel colored eggs and eat Peeps until our bellies hurt (or I remember what nasty ingredients we're consuming by the flock). We'll lay on a blanket in the grass and make cloud animals while sipping fresh squeezed lemonade and munching on veggie grilled cheese sandwiches.

When I first realized that Easter was more of a picnic with bunnies and eggs than a celebration of Christ's victory over death, I vowed never to allow those things to overshadow my Pascha again. We'll continue to joyously sing "Christ is Risen" and hit our red eggs together to symbolize Christ's coming out of the tomb instead.

I have to admit that I still love the sight of swirly pastel eggs and the sugary taste of Peeps. So I decided that we could celebrate with those things to symbolize the arrival of Spring. It works out perfectly. It turns out to be a great spring day and Pascha continues to be what it has been for true Christians for thousands and thousands of years, the celebration of Christ's Resurrection.

Have a beautiful day!
