An Orthodox "Superhero" Book!
The other day I received My Warrior Saints from Potamitis Publishing in the mail! I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this book for months now and I couldn't wait to get in the house and tear the box open.
I saw the mock-up of the book when we edited it but when I held that book in my hand and opened it up, I was completely blown away by what an incredible work of art is really is. I have always admired Ekaterine's work but this book is my absolute favorite. The illustrations are absolutely magnificent! The beautifully retold stories of the saints, both common and lesser known, will capture both your attention and your child's!
The book has 70 pages of vibrant illustrations, including a beautiful gift page (shown below) and includes the stories of 12 different warrior saints. You'll be amazed at how much you and your children will learn from these stories!
I sometimes get a little annoyed when I watch the boys playing Superman or knights or G.I. Joe's, when they have so many saints who were soldiers and warriors. Unfortunately, there are not many resources available for children that depict our "superhero" saints, but since we received this book my boys have asked me to read them a story from My Warrior Saints every night! They have been wearing their saint's capes more often and pretending to be St. George or St. Nikitas--it is such a blessing!
I highly encourage all of you to take a look at the book (you can "flip" through the pages) on Potamitis Publishing's website! I think you will love it as much as I do!
God is truly at work through Potamitis Publishing as they put forth so many wonderful Orthodox materials for our young people. May He bless them always and may they continue to publish more of these works!
