Last night I had the pleasure of watching the movie, No Greater Love. It is a beautiful story of a couple, who after the birth of their first child, falls apart. The new mother falls into a terrible state of depression and disappears. After 10 years, when the husband finally has the courage to move on with his life, his long lost soulmate re-enters his life. The movie shows this couple's dedication to each other and ultimately to the promise they made before God.

It was so moving that I suddenly felt the need to do more for my marriage. I think sometimes, we get so wrapped up in our daily schedule of events that we forget to do the little things for our loved ones. We are so busy that many of the small things in our marriage have become routine more than heartfelt and I want that to change. I am so busy being mom that I forget that I am wife as well. I need to put more focus on my husband, even if it is in just a small way. It's the little things in life that matter, right? Regardless of the age or stability of a marriage, each one needs to be nurtured in order to continue living and growing.

Last year, after watching the Fireproof movie, I went out and bought The Love Dare book. DH and I agreed to take turns completing the 40-day challenges. I was so excited to begin but wanted to find exactly the right moment. Well, it sat on the shelf and neither of us touched it. I also have been reading the books Preserve them, O Lord (which I highly recommend) and The Excellent Wife. Both are excellent books and would make a great gift for weddings or anniversaries.

So from now on, I am going to try to post a monthly Marriage Monday topic. Maybe it will be a Scripture verse or quote on marriage. Or a sweet little something that you can do to remind them they are loved.

Today, I will be cooking DH's favorite dish and dessert and will be doing the first challenge in The Love Dare which is an exercise in patience (which I really need some, ok most, days).
