Orthodoxy and Halloween {one orthodox mom's perspective}

So, I've talked about my thoughts on Orthodox participation in Halloween for the past three years and wasn't planning on posting about it again this year. I mean, what is there left to say really?However, I've been getting emails about it all month and google has been sending people who have been searching for things like should orthodox celebrate halloween, orthodoxy and halloween, orthodox view halloween, and even an orthodox pumpkin recipe, to this blog. Apparently, people (other than the pumpkin recipe folks) are wondering where we stand on the subject. I would love to respond to every single email individually but I can't for two reasons. First, I would just direct you all to the links I am going to post below (there are great links in each post), because my opinion doesn't really matter. And secondly, because I simply don't have the time. That being said, if you go through the links and read the articles by the various priests, holy fathers, etc. and still want to talk about something, by all means send me an email again and I will be sure to respond asap.That all being said, I am CLOSING COMMENTS on this post. Last year, I got bombarded with people telling me why they think it's okay to celebrate it and twisting the scriptures to suit their views and it began to get downright nasty and I am not dealing with that this year. So please, if you disagree with me on this, that's perfectly fine, just click over to the next post. Please don't try to change my mind on this matter because you won't. And I'm not trying to change yours. I am sure you all have spiritual fathers and/or priests you can talk to about this matter. I am simply posting my beliefs for people who might be wondering how someone on the other side of the fence feels and do not have the desire or time to debate the matter, yet again.For those of you who are interested in learning more about why I don't celebrate Halloween anymore, please browse through the links below. Halloween: Trick or Treat?Orthodoxy and HalloweenOrthodoxy vs. Halloween Should Orthodox Christians Participate in Halloween?  (There are some very informative articles in this post) Hope you're all having a great October! And for those of you who may have landed here only in search of a pumpkin recipe, here's a link to my favorite one. It's good, I promise. :)
