When God Made You
We are loving Jane Meyer's new book, When God Made You. What a precious book! The story takes readers on a trip around the world and tells about the unique set of virtues, talents, and interests God gave each and every person when He created them. The lovely and vivid illustrations, by Megan Gilbert, so accurately depict children from various regions and cultures. Each character is shown doing something they love - their gift from God.
"When God made Theodoor, He fed him spoonfuls of horizon lines and shifting shapes in every shade of blue. Then in his mind God layered light and dark with love and lazy afternoons. Blessing the young boy, God said, "Theodoor, Paint."
The one thing that stood out in Lucky's mind was how things like building and planting were considered gifts. He loves to build and grow things and the smile on his face when we read those pages told me that he now thought of them as blessings from God and that alone made this book well worth it.Sprout decided he wanted to read "the book about all the presents" again while his brothers were away at school. So he took one of his besties and snuggled up on the sofa.Listening to him read the story to his bear was adorable. I love listening to them play and read when they don't know I'm there. He laughed his way through all the pages. Apparently, the special things God made each of us with are pretty amazing! After we read the story, we sat outside in the sunshine and talked about what we thought our gifts were and discussed ways we could use those gifts to glorify God.At the end of the book are several pages full of prayers, scripture verses, riddles and information about where the characters in the book originated from. We had a lot of fun reading them!Below is a worksheet that you can work on with your children after reading When God Made You.When God Made You is available at Ancient Faith Publishing.
