your help is needed this Christmas season
I don't normally do things like this, but tonight I'm going to. I'm reaching out to all of you to help someone, who in a whirlwind of unexpected events, found themselves in some really tough times this Christmas season. By tough I mean, without a place to live or food to eat. I know them personally and am doing everything I can to help but frankly, it's not nearly enough. It breaks my heart to think that while I am busy baking cookies with my family and cozying up in a warm home with hot cocoa and a stack of Christmas movies this weekend, others are literally trying to find a place out of the snow to sleep and enough money to put food in their hungry belly.
“What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like.” St. Augustine
So, in the spirit of Christ, and the spirit of this Nativity season, I want to make a difference for this family. My goal is to at least get them enough food to eat and a place to stay for a month, enough time to God-willing get on their feet again.Below is a donation button for those of you who are willing to help. Any amount is appreciated more than you know and if you're not comfortable sending money, food cards would also be a tremendous help, just please email me (sylvia{at}orthodoxmom{dot}com) for details on what stores and fast food restaurants are in their area.Let's also remember that prayer is the best form of alms. So whether or not you are able to help financially, please please remember them in your prayers.Share this post with your friends and family and on your social media accounts. Let's work together to make this a Merry Christmas for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you all so much and God bless your kindness!!
