January Baking & Breaking Bread Challenge

Happy New Year, friends! I pray 2025 is filled with health, love, peace and spiritual prosperity for each of you and your families!

I wanted to invite you to join me over on my Orthodox Mom Sisterhood on Patreon, for a simple but edifying January challenge: baking bread and sharing it with others. This January, we’re embracing the theme of homemade bread as a way to connect with our faith, our families, and our communities.

The challenge is simple: bake two loaves of bread each week—one to keep and enjoy with your family, and one to give away. Whether you share with a neighbor, a friend, or someone in need, this small act of generosity can make a big difference. It’s a beautiful way to live out our call to hospitality and love.

What’s Included in the Challenge

Over on my Patreon, you’ll find all the resources you need to make this challenge both fun and meaningful:

  • Weekly Recipes: From beginner-friendly loaves to artisan creations, I’ll share step-by-step instructions to help you grow in your baking skills.

  • Spiritual Reflections: Explore the deeper meaning of bread in Orthodox tradition and how it connects to themes of provision, gratitude, and giving.

  • Interactive Community: Share your experiences, photos, and stories with others taking part in the challenge. Let’s inspire each other as we bake and give together!

Why Bread?

The better question might be—why not bread? There’s just something about the way a home smells when bread has been baked, isn’t there? Even breaking open a fresh loaf feels like an act from a simpler time.

But bread is also more than just food; it’s a symbol of God’s provision and our connection to one another. As St. John Chrysostom reminds us: “Feeding the hungry is a greater work than raising the dead.” By baking and sharing bread, we participate in an act of love that reflects God’s care for us all.

How to Join

Joining the challenge is easy! Head over to my Patreon page to sign up. Once you’re in, you’ll gain access to all the exclusive content and resources for this month. Together, let’s make January a time of warmth, generosity, and connection.

I can’t wait to see the loaves you bake and hear the stories of how you share them. Let’s fill our homes and hearts with the joy of giving this January!
