prosphoro baking workshop

This month we will be learning all about Prosphoro Baking. I’ve had sooo many requests for this over the years and struggled with the best way to share the information so that,

1. It would be beneficial and helpful.

2. It would give me the proper space to teach it with the respect it deserves.

And our Sisterhood community is the perfect place! It is full of pious women struggling for their salvation with a willingness to learn and grow! 🌱 I’m so grateful for each and every one of you and am SO excited to be doin this workshop with all of you! 🤗

I was taught how to prepare prosphoro by our Gerondissa of blessed memory almost twenty years ago. I’ve learned so much from her and the other sisters at our monasteries and am excited to pass their knowledge on to you exactly the way it was given to me. Preparing Prosphoro is truly an art, which means there will be a lot of trial and error and learning from mistakes! Twenty years in and I still have not perfected it but I feel so blessed by the process that I will continue to offer them for as long as I’m able! 🙏🏼

We’ll be learning what the different parts of the seal symbolize, how to properly prepare it, prayers to recite before and during the preparation of the bread, how to transport it to church, supplies required, and more.

We will be baking our prosphoro the traditional way, using prozimi (blessed starter), like it has been for generations before conventional yeast was even around! Which means, you’ll learn the history of prozimi and how to make it yourself!

The workshop will also include:

•Videos

•Supply Lists

•PDF’s to print

•Photos

•Live Baking Session via Zoom where we’ll all bake together!

✨ NOTE: You’ll also get a sneak peek into this amazing resource THE HEAVENLY GIFT not yet released from @newromepress. Also, more to come on the story of my gorgeous pendant, custom created by Ryan Colyar of ReaderPhilipsCrosses.com! 😍

I’ll be posting a list of supplies (with links) as well as instructions on How to Make Prozimi, which can only be done twice a year—once in September 14 the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and again during Great Lent!

If you’re already a member, be sure to go check in—I’ve posted the supply list so we can start our prozimi after we get a sprig of blessed basil from the feast on Thursday!
