Prayer Rope Sign-ups

Recently I posted a poll to see how many people would be interested in learning to make prayer ropes via this blog. If you were one of the people who expressed interest, I'd like for you to email me at Sylvia{at}OrthodoxMom{dot}com with your full name, parish name and location. I'd like to have them all by the end of next week, say May 10th or 11th. Be sure to get a blessing from your spiritual father for this!

I am going to attempt to create a youtube video and post it. I will post pictures and a materials list that you will need in the next couple of days. I can't wait to see how many people we get! In the meantime there is a great little book called Comboschini (The Prayer Rope): Meditations of a Monk of The Holy Mountain Athos that I recommend you read before we begin. It is only about 30 pages long but discusses the process of making prayer ropes and practicing the Jesus prayer. It will help get you in the right frame of mind spiritually. You can order it from AZ: 520.868.3188 or TX: 830.833.0246.

"I advise all Christians to make Crosses and Komboskinia (Chotkis) and and I pray to God to bless them, so they can keep them as amulets."

"I advise you to make komboskinia, all of you, young and old, and hold it in your left hand and cross yourselves with your right hand and say: Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me."
