A peaceful morning...
And I'm sure it was for someone, somewhere, but it wasn't for me! This blissful moment only lasted about 10 minutes before the baby woke up and Ace created a trail of syrup from the table to the sink, down the counter and dishwasher ending in a dark, sticky puddle next to the sink. It wasn't his fault though (I keep reminding myself of this)because he was only doing what I tell him every morning to do and that is to take his dish to the sink.Though it was a good morning for my taste buds as I enjoyed some leftover Cream Cheese Squares. These little guys are delicious! Check out the recipe, it is one of my favorite things to make for after church on Sundays or for potlucks. Everyone loves them and they literally take only a couple minutes to prepare. Not to mention they are delicious! Did I mention how delicious they are?? I also made a pot of my absolute favorite spring/summer Very Berry tea by Teavana. We will probably finish up the last of our leftovers today which means I need to go grocery shopping and figure out what I'm going to cook for the rest of the week. I love to cook but I have to admit I LOVE leftovers! My yiayia always makes this delicious red rice with the lamb on Pascha and we usually fry it together the next day and add some beaten eggs to it for a delicious lunch. Mmmm...I can't wait for lunch! Does anyone have any good "leftover makeover" ideas?I did sneak in a few minutes of reading while sipping (guzzling) my tea. I am re-reading a chapter in the book Father Seraphim Rose: His Life and Works. A friend of mine was over the other day and we were discussing the "super-correctness" going on nowadays and she suggested I re-read Chapter 86 (Orthodoxy of the Heart). She said Fr. Seraphim discusses this in detail. So I did. He used a quote he used from Blessed Augustine that I really think sums it all up. Blessed Augustine said,
"The faith of a Christian is with love; faith without love is that of the devil."
I read this book a couple of years ago when it first came out and loved it. It took me awhile to get through since I don't get much concentrated reading time (and it's super big) but it was probably one of the best books I've read.
