Orthodox Baptism
Recently I was asked if to be a guest writer for a site called One Small Child. It's a website that sells the most beautiful baptismal gowns and accessories I have ever seen, at fabulous prices. They asked me to write a piece describing the customs and traditions of Orthodox Baptism.
I thought about it at first because I didn't want to post an article on Orthodoxy somewhere where it wouldn't be understood or appreciated. But the name sounded so familiar to me so when I went to the site I realized I was already familiar with their site because I have a few family members who have ordered baptismal dresses and accessories from them. So I felt comfortable agreeing to do so.
The woman who contacted me, Audrey, was such a sweetheart and was very open to the article being a little longer than normal because I just couldn't leave out any more details!
As a cradle Orthodox, this was a good project for me because I realized there were several things during the service that I wasn't 100% sure why we did them. So I contacted my priest and he explained them more thoroughly to me and told me a few more things I didn't know.
