Psalter Group Assignments (Great Lent 2015)

The other day I was in the kitchen and it had just begun to snow.  The snowflakes looked so beautiful behind the fresh tulips I just brought home and set out on the table.  Immediately, the anticipation for Pascha rose up inside of me.  The way everything is so bare and empty outside right now, the bright colors of those blooms against the white snow instantly made me think of new life.  And that, of course, made me think of the Resurrection.I still can't believe that we are in Great Lent already!  I love this time of year so much.  I love the slowing down of things, social media sabbaticals, hushing of the television.  We spend more time cuddling up with our favorite books and just spending time together as a family.  Ace actually told me the other day that we need to "do this more often".  And by "this" he meant us not allowing them on the t.v. or video games and spending quiet time together.  It's amazing how we can all be in the same room but with everyone sort of doing their own thing, it doesn't really feel like we're spending time with eachother.  I told him I totally agreed. This time of year also brings that quiet joy that begins to bubble up in my soul, the anticipation of Pascha.  It's such a good feeling.   This time of year really is amazing and it also brings with it my favorite lenten tradition--our Psalter Groups!20150216_164220I can hardly believe we’ve been doing this for over seven years now!  It warms my heart to know so many of you love this tradition and find the same comfort and encouragement in it as I do.  Thank you all so much for joining me each time.  I so look forward to your company.   <3Here are the assigned readings for the Psalter Groups for Great Lent 2015.Names are numbered in order of what kathisma you begin on.*Be sure to look through all the lists for your name. It will be as you signed up. There are a lot of Mary’s, Maria’s, Katherine’s, etc. Even less common names are duplicated sometimes!  Make sure you’re looking at the right one!  There were several Irene's this time and most did not have an email of last name, so I'm not sure how to differentiate between you all!   I included usernames or emails wherever I could to make it a bit easier, too.  So PLEASE read through the whole list until you’re sure you found your name.  If you’re not positive, leave a comment and I will clarify.Psalter Group AssignmentsBefore beginning to read your assigned kathisma, please recite the Trisagion prayers (and the prayer at the bottom of this post if you choose):

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.O heavenly King, O Comforter, the Spirit of truth, who art in all places and fillest all things; Treasury of good things and Giver of life: Come and dwell in us and cleanse us from every stain, and save our souls, O gracious Lord.Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal: have mercy on us. (Thrice)Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.All-holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse us from our sins. Master, pardon our iniquities. Holy God, visit and heal our infirmities for thy Name’s sake.Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.Through the prayers of our holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us and save us. Amen.

At the end of each kathisma please recite the following:

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, both now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia. Glory to you, O God. (twice)Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Glory to you, O God our hope, O Lord, glory to You. Lord have mercy on (name of each person in your group).

******People in group 4 (and any groups after that), please check back periodically since more people will most likely be added to your group, so you can add their names to your prayer list. And as always, if you have any questions at all, let me know!Don’t become discouraged if you miss some, it takes time to build a habit and anything you read is more than you would have read if you hadn’t signed up!
